chapter 14 and 15 questions

#1What different interpretations did the townspeople make of the lights visible on the mountain?
A. Some people were very amazed at how beautiful the lights were and they thought they were very grand.

#2 Characterize bard and the Master. What teqniques does Tolkien use to encourage you to contrast the two men?
A. Bard is a skilled archer and slayes the dragon and Thor is the master of the ravens.

#3. How is the setting of this town important?
A. it is important because Smaug lightsevry house on fire and without the townspeople being there it would be all burnt down.

#4. Was there any situational irony for you in this chapter? Any predictions fufilled? Explain.
A. I didnt think Smaug would be dead so soon or that the townspeople would be attacked and my predictions did come true and i though that Smaug was going to die sometime.

#5. What motives guided the wood-elves to their journey east?
A. The elves are trying to catch the dwarfs because they know that they have treasure and that they have Bilbo.

#6. What do you predict will happen in the next chapter? What indications do you have that this is possible? i think that in the next chapter they will get caught by the wood elves.

What roles have talking animals played in this plot of the story so far?
There are spiders and ponies and dragons.

What enimies do the company have? What do you think might happen?
A. The wood elves and the spiders because they have both escaped.

What did the company do while they waited for the armys to approach?
